Beaneaters Win, 8-6, Versus Charlotte
|
Charlotte center fielder Charlie Jennings was sensational. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Boston beat the Hawks, 8-6. Scot Johnson notched his 38th save in 44 chances. Boston goes to 74-71, Charlotte to 82-64.
Had Raul Saldana not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Saldana hit a 2-run single. That made the score 8-6, in favor of the Beaneaters.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Saldana.
