Alaska got a valiant performance from pitcher Eliot Rippin, but it wasn't enough to beat the Bay Area Bandits. Bay Area won the game, 3-2. Rippin threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The win gives Bay Area a season record of 94-57.

The decisive blow was delivered by Richie Jackson in the bottom of the 14th when he hit a solo home run off 22-year old right-handed pitcher Chris Thurston to win the game for Bay Area. The home crowd went nuts.

"That's baseball," said Alaska manager Greg Poupon. "You're not always going to be hitting on all cylinders."
