Cobra Prevail, 6-4, Over Los Angeles

The home crowd had a good time watching the Los Angeles Shockers and New York Cobra get after it.
The New York Cobra topped the Los Angeles Shockers, 6-4, in Major Conference action at Cobra Stadium. The standout performance belonged to New York pitcher and Salt Lake City, Utah, native Joseph Smith Langford. Bob Grant earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 2-1. Picking up the save was 25-year old left-handed pitcher Elmer Stephens.
The Cobra got a big hit from designated hitter Rafael Rubio. In the bottom of the sixth, Rubio smacked a bases-clearing double off Los Angeles pitcher Gary Smith. It was his 5th double of the season. Suddenly, the Cobra were ahead, 3-2.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Langford. "Successful pitchers do it."
The triumph makes New York 15-8, as the team begins another long trek toward the playoffs in 2026.
