Penguins Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Green Day Dukes could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Nate Brown into a win. Instead, the Florida Penguins prevailed, 5-4. Brown threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Bob Williams claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 1.1 innings. His record stands at 3-1. Craig Webb earned the save for Florida, his 5th of the year.
Florida used the timely hitting of Ezra Sullivan to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Penguins on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Florida manager John Green commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
Green Day, with the loss, is 12-11.
