Louisville Upended by Phoenix, 5-2

Henry Howell did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Louisville Sluggers from being beaten, 5-2, to the Phoenix Autobots at Ballpark of Arizona. Howell went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Marc Valentine notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 3-0. The loss drops the Sluggers to 6-23.
Sergio Ramirez had a big 2-run home run for the Autobots in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Phoenix leading 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a sinker from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Ryan Robinson and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Autobots on top, 5-2.
"I wouldn't want to be playing us right now," said Phoenix manager John Cooper.
