Rugrats Earn Win with Late Rally
The Detroit Devils wasted an impressive 7-inning effort from starter Ronnie Battle, falling, 2-1, to the Orlando Rugrats at Devils Stadium. The winner was Orlando reliever Jorge Ortega, now 1-1. The loser was Gerald Ellis. Craig Cannon earned the save, his 6th, for the Rugrats.

Stewart Matthews, who is on pace for 106 RBI this season, had a direct impact on the outcome. Matthews contributed a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the ninth inning to put Orlando up, 2-1.

Orlando manager Carmelo Bramati commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."

Detroit is 14-20 after the loss.
