Ronnie Battle, who is tied for 4th in the MC in wins with 4, had a strong outing for the Detroit Devils against the Hawaii Hounddogs at Graceland Park. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 6-3 win. Detroit goes to 17-22, Hawaii to 23-14.

Detroit used a well-timed hit by Jerry James to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Devils ahead, 5-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said James. "You've got to get results."
