Florida Slaps 5-4 Loss on New York
|
The Florida Penguins beat the New York Cobra, 5-4, at Cobra Stadium. Florida first baseman Conn Barbarian led the way. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Anthony Carr came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 2-1. Earning his 6th save for Florida was Craig Webb.
Barbarian had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 0-1 curveball from Nobukazu Fujihara, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Penguins a 5-3 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Barbarian.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said New York manager Chad White.
The Penguins now have a record of 18-20 with the win over New York.
