Isotopes Earn 5-2 Win Against Rabbits
|
The Springfield Isotopes withstood an impressive performance by Denver left fielder Katniss Smith to defeat the Rabbits, 5-2, at Mile Long Stadium. Smith was 3-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. The win went to Tony Torres in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Brandon Sanders took the loss. Marcelino Lopez was called on to finish, recording his 14th save.
Jimmy Flannery came through with a big-time hit for Springfield. The left fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 5-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Flannery.
Springfield now has a record of 22-17 with the win.
