The Hawaii Hounddogs picked up a win at Graceland Park, topping the Detroit Devils, 5-3. On the mound for Hawaii was right-hander Loki Sasaki. He played a principal role in the triumph. Cesar Cordero earned the save, his 10th, for the Hounddogs. With the win over Detroit, the Hounddogs improved to 26-14.

Had Luis Alfredo Garcia not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Garcia hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Hounddogs.

"We had a good game plan," Sasaki said, "and we were able to execute it."
