Gunfighters Win at Home, 5-1
|
Tony Rosario, who finished 2nd in the SC in wins with 16 last year, never let the Sluggers get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his cutter, to pitch the Gunfighters to a win, 5-1. The winning pitcher was Rosario, now 5-4. He tossed 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. Lou Watson earned the save for Texas.
Jeff Cook came through for Texas with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. The left fielder went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and collected 1 run batted in.
Rosario attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
Texas is now 24-26, Louisville 12-37.
