Charlotte wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Alex Munoz, falling to the Denver Rabbits, 4-3. Munoz threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The win gives Denver a season record of 24-24.
Denver took a 4-3 lead on Michael Stewart's 9th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Stewart hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Charlotte pitcher Leonardo Sanchez visibly frustrated.
"Bottom line," said Charlotte skipper Omar Gomez, "we didn't play well enough to win."
