The home crowd had a good time watching the Philadelphia Grays and New York Knights get after it.

The New York Knights defeated the Philadelphia Grays, 4-0, in Superior Conference action at New York Grounds. New York pitcher Bill Simons had a standout performance. The winner was Simons. He threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Cromwell McGee.

Michael Vaughn had a big 3-run home run for the Knights in the bottom of the third inning. With New York leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from Cromwell McGee, who leads the MC in innings pitched with 74.2, and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Knights on top, 4-0.

"I felt good. I felt like I was locating the ball well and I was able to keep them off-balance," said Simons.

By defeating Philadelphia, the 4th-place Knights improved to 26-25.
