The Springfield Isotopes got a superb performance from pitcher Rens Spaan, but the Toledo Mud Hens still won the game, 5-4. Spaan threw 5.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Jesus Palmeiro, the winner, is now 7-0. He struck out 5 and walked 2 over 6 innings, while allowing 4 runs on 8 hits. Toledo now has a record of 38-15 with the win.

In the bottom of the sixth, Toledo first baseman Felipe Cortez gave his team the lead. With two out and the bases loaded, Twig hit his 10th double of the year. Springfield pitcher Lloyd Dooley surrendered it. With that, the Mud Hens jumped in front, 5-3.
