Taylor Excels, But Beaneaters Win
The Boston Beaneaters spoiled a good performance by Baltimore right fielder Bill Taylor, bumping off Baltimore, 8-7, at Fenway Park. Taylor was 4-5 with 2 home runs and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. The Beaneaters improved their record to 28-23 by beating Baltimore.

Tsugumichi Masuda had a big bases-clearing double for the Beaneaters in the bottom of the second inning. With Boston leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from Peter Johnson, who is tied for 10th in the SC in quality starts with 6, and swatted a double to center. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Beaneaters ahead, 6-2.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Mario Pujols said.
