Penguins Bridle Grays, 1-0
|
Ballpark of Philadelphia was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
Philadelphia got a terrific performance from pitcher Ben Anderson, but it wasn't enough to beat the Florida Penguins. Florida won the Ballpark of Philadelphia contest, 1-0. Anderson threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Gizmo Peveto got the win, improving to 2-3. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2.
Ezra Sullivan had a direct impact on the outcome. Sullivan contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put Florida up, 1-0.
"Some games build character," said Florida manager John Green. "Like this one."
Florida is now 28-26, while Philadelphia is 27-28.
