Mud Hens Raise Rally Flag, Beat New York, 9-6
|
Toledo took on New York in front of a lively crowd.
Mud Hens first baseman Lou Cook left his imprint on his team's 9-6 win over the New York Knights. Cook went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Toledo in the contest. The win went to Carl Rice in relief, making him now 1-4. Ernesto Cantu took the loss for New York.
Cary Lee, who finished 2nd in the SC in wins above replacement with 7.2 in 2023, took New York hurler Ernesto Cantu deep in the top of the eighth. His 2-run home run put the Mud Hens on top, 7-6. In all, Lee had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"It's a good day to be a fan after a win like that," Cook told the Toledo Herald.
Toledo, at 44-19, is 8 games up in the Superior Conference Central Division.
