Hounddogs Hand St. Louis 5-3 Loss
|
St. Louis third baseman Vince Murphy was sensational. He went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Hawaii beat the Robins, 5-3. Pete Clark, now 4-0, was credited with the win in 1.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Kevin Ribaudo was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 5 of 6 save opportunities.
Hawaii used a timely hit from Luis Alfredo Garcia to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hounddogs ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"It never gets old," said Garcia. "Winning, that is."
Hawaii has 3 straight wins, St. Louis 3 straight losses.
