Spiders Earn Clutch Win, 7-6
The Cleveland Spiders turned back the Mars Eyebiters, 7-6, at Mars Field. Jose Gallegos, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 2 for 6 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. By defeating Mars, the last-place Spiders improved to 31-34.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Aurelio Vega came to bat in the top of the 18th. Facing Mars pitcher Chad Thomas, he hit a 0-1 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cleveland on top, 7-6.

"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Ramon Bernal, the Cleveland skipper.
