The Isotopes earned a hard-fought, 5-2 win in 12 innings at New York Grounds. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from New York pitcher Bill Simons. Simons went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. The win was credited to 11-year veteran Marcelino Lopez in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Alfredo Trujillo took the loss. The Isotopes improved their record to 33-32 with the win over New York.

The Isotopes beat the Knights in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Ty Hansen produced in the top of the 12th. Batting against Alfredo Trujillo, Hansen gave his team the lead, 3-2, when he hit a run-scoring single.

"Took some scratching and clawing," said Hansen. "But we got it done."
