Eyebiters 8-6 Winners Over Cleveland
|
The Mars Eyebiters defeated the Cleveland Spiders, 8-6. Doing his part was catcher Dave Thomas, who went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Jeffrey Bancroft snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits over 1.2 innings. He's now 3-1 on the season. The Eyebiters sport a record of 22-44.
The Spiders had been locked in a 6-6 tie with the Eyebiters going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old left fielder Lewis Grant came to the plate. Grant hit a run-scoring double on a 1-2 cutter from Cleveland hurler Markus Johnson. It was Grant's 9th double of the year.
"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Thomas told the Mars Gazette.
