Alfaro Top EL Pitcher in July

Altoona Danes hurler Evan Alfaro was rewarded today with the Eastern League Pitcher of the Month honors. Alfaro, 29, realizes that pitching isn't all about how hard you can throw, it's about accuracy and about picking yourself up even when you've had a run of bad luck.
"I'd like to say I don't give them anything to hit," said the Altoona starter, "but that's not true. Every pitcher gives up a long ball now and then. Usually there's at least one mistake in each at-bat, but you've got to battle through your mistakes and build some positive momentum. The rest will fall into place."
Things did fall into place for Alfaro. In July he took the ball for 36.2 innings while notching 35 strikeouts, a 1.72 ERA and a 3-0 record.
His record this season is 6-2 in 12 starts and Alfaro has a 2.60 ERA.

Price Captures EL Batter of Month Award

Terry Price has a lot going for him. The Binghamton first baseman just broke into the majors this year and now the Eastern League has just picked him as its top hitter for July.
In 10 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .500 with 4 home runs, 12 RBIs and 9 runs scored.
So far this season, Price has gotten 39 hits in 92 at-bats for a .424 batting average with 9 home runs. His stats include 24 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He has played in 26 games.

5-for-6 Game for Price

The Portland Bruins couldn't stop Terry Price, but they stopped the Binghamton Doobie Kings, 2-1. Price went 5-for-6 in the game at Binghamton Grounds, but his team still came out on the wrong end of the score.
"I feel bad for Terry -- that's not how any of us wanted things to turn out," said Binghamton manager Patrick Watts. "The Bruins were on their game today."
Terry Price singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 8th, singled in the 11th and singled in the 13th.
This season in 23 games, Price is batting .436 with 9 home runs, 22 RBIs and has scored 22 times.
